Concept combinations span the full I-84 Danbury PEL Study corridor, incorporating key improvements from all four geographic segments and combining the individual advancing segment concepts into one contiguous solution, from about the CT-NY Stateline to the Town of Newtown. Every possible mix of the eight (8) advancing concepts were combined to form 12 concept combinations. These are referenced as CC-A through CC-L.
Each corridor combination was screened for its performance across the length of the corridor through a fatal flaw analysis, redundancy analysis and screening matrix analysis.
The screening process yielded a recommended range of three (3) alternatives for inclusion in full environmental analysis. These are the combinations CC-B, CC-D, and CC-F (highlighted). The only distinction between each of these combinations is in the center segment. The project team is also considering other alternatives involving the Dynamic Lane Use as part of the environmental analysis.
